Hello, lovelies!
If you are reading this blog, then you have to have some access to the Internet. If you have any access at all to the Internet, you know the new sensation sweeping the nation:
Pokemon Go.
Although the app has received a lot of criticism, I think it warrants more praise than insults. I have the app, and though I am a mere Level 11, I play any chance I get!

I see my friends get out and go places they wouldn’t have before. I’ve talked to people I haven’t talked to in ages before this game. It’s fun. It’s friendly. As long as you can be aware of your surroundings, there really isn’t a negative side effect to the game.
With all of its neat features, I really think that Pokemon Go is the best app I’ve ever downloaded.
So inspired by this game, I decided to share an old pattern that I had come up with a few years ago.
This Pokemon Inspired Phone Cozy works up easy and quick. If you have a white button and these colors laying around, it should probably take you no more than an hour to crochet!
This pattern is a little subjective, depending on your phone size, but I will say that the measurements I will be using easily fit my iPhone 5 or Cody’s Galaxy 5S.
Here is what you need!
Materials:
Red worsted weight yarn
White worsted weight yarn
Black worsted weight yarn
Size 5mm crochet hook
Tapestry needle
A white button
I used Red Heart yarn, since it is durable and doesn’t stretch as much as some other acrylic yarn. You don’t need much of each color of yarn. In fact, this would be a great scrap yarn project.
Once again, you will want to kind of judge how many chains AND rows you do, based on the size of your phone.
You want to make sure that you have enough space around your your phone to include a seam. You want to be able to sew down the sides with enough room to fit your phone comfortably. Here were my measurements, just keep in mind, your’s may be different.
With black yarn- Ch 17.
Row 1: In the second chain from the hook, single crochet down the chains. Later you will add the white button to this row.
With red yarn- Rows 2 – 22: SC 16 stitches. This will be the top of the your cozy. If your phone measurements are different, crochet with the red until your phone is just a little under half way down your phone.
With black yarn- Row 23: SC 16 stitches. This black row separates the red yarn from the white. It will also line up with Row 1, so it looks like a continuous black line.
With white yarn- Rows 24-47: Sc 16 stitches. This will be the bottom of your cozy.
With black yarn- Row 48: SC 7 stitches. Chain 2. Skip 2 chains. SC 7 stitches. Cut off end. This will be the button hole.
At this point, your cozy should look like this:
A lot of ends to weave in!
Next you should take your tapestry needle, and thread it with white yarn.
Lining the black lines up, fold the white part in half and sew the sides together.
Then thread the needle with black yarn, and sew the black sides together as well.
Your cozy should now look like:
All you have to do is then sew the button on the top black row, lining it up to fit into the button hole.
There’s your Pokeball cozy! Now go catch them all!
So tell me, lovelies: what is your favorite part about the app? What is it inspiring you to do?
